A typical day in the urban jungle that is Jakarta, Indonesia…rush hour traffic…incessant honking of horns…vendors clamoring for space while the day to day struggles of life mount like a rushing torrent, threatening to consume all in its path. From out of the madness comes a ray of light…a smooth, melodic cornucopia of jazz, hip hop, R&B, funk and soul called SAX CHEMISTRY.
Like water to a thirsty soul, this album will nourish the weary…relax the stressed…calm the savage beast in us all as it takes us on a magical journey through sound and existence. Aged like a fine chardonnay, it has been meticulously blended and only now, when fully ripened, have the artists allowed the masses to sample it.
Released earlier this year, SAX CHEMISTRY is the second album from young artists G&B, siblings Gadiz and Sebastian “Bass” Sibbald, from Jakarta, Indonesia. Appealing to a wide spectrum of listeners, the album is strong from beginning to end as every song pulls its own weight.
Surrounded by such musicians as Barry Likumahuwa, Hendri Lamiri, Lewis Pragasam, Tompi, Nicky Manuputty, Benny Likumahuwa, Obert Pomares MacLaughlin and Kevin Wahl, the album manages to fuse sounds that will conjure up images of brightly-lit dance floors or relaxing evenings under the stars. The relative youth of G&B (Gadiz is 13, Bass is 11 when Sax Chemistry was in production) makes the quality of the album even more remarkable. Having built a solid foundation in Asia, they are now setting their sights on becoming players on the international music scene. Judging by the strong effort that is SAX CHEMISTRY, this young duo appear to be well on their way
